We are all facing the challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic together, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter reminds viewers in a recent video filmed at his home.
He offers some possible “silver linings” to this time of sheltering-in-place.
“I see the pandemic as a mirror for our society that may help us to achieve greater clarity and empathy,” he said. This mirror, he explained, might allow us to “more fully appreciate how much we depend on one another.”
While expressing concern that the world “must be better at sharing information across borders,” and that “this is the worst possible time to fan the flames of protectionism and nationalism,” Hexter is encouraged that moments like this show how “Aggies are primed to meet great challenges.”
