New Artwork in Library Courtyard Commemorates Jewish Resistance During World War II

Alumnus Jeffrey Berger ’74 and his wife Sheri Berger have donated a major piece of public art to University of California, Davis. “Ghetto Wall,” an original sculpture by the prominent California artist and educator Ruth Cozen Snyder, was installed on Aug. 24 in the courtyard of Peter J. Shields Library, at the heart of the Davis campus.

Plug-in Electric Vehicles Archive to Be Housed at �ٺ��Ƶ Library

During National Drive Electric Week, the University of California, Davis, today (Sept. 27) announced that it has begun to build a Plug-in Electric Vehicles Archive. It will be housed at the �ٺ��Ƶ Library’s Archives and Special Collections with support from the �ٺ��Ƶ Electric Vehicle Research Center.

Abortion Facility Access Means Long Drives for Nearly 42% of Women

One year after the Dobbs decision, nearly 42% of U.S. women of reproductive age have to drive 30 minutes or more to reach an abortion care facility, according to a study co-authored by researchers from the University of California, Davis, and Washington State University.

The data is up to date as of June 2, and researchers predicted the percentage of women having to drive 30 minutes or more would rise to more than 53% if other state bills under consideration are passed.

Paul W. Hollingshead Photography Collection Donated to �ٺ��Ƶ Library

The �ٺ��Ƶ Library Archives and Special Collections is pleased to announce the arrival of the Paul W. Hollingshead Photography Collection, generously donated by �ٺ��Ƶ alumni Sharon Dianne Hollingshead ’63 and the late William (Bill) Hollingshead ’60. The stunning photography of Paul W. Hollingshead captures 1920s New York, where he apprenticed with the renowned Edward Steichen (1923–1928), and mid-century Northern California, where he established a photography studio in Woodland (1932 to 1969).

University of California to Research Expanded Access to Digitized Books
