HOLIDAY HELPING: Food Goes in the Mail, Turkeys Go on the Run

Mail Services is launching its 12th annual Holiday Food Drive on the Davis and Sacramento campuses. Mail personnel will pick up foodstuffs left with outgoing mail, Nov. 1-20 (this text has been updated to reflect food drive extension to Nov. 20), and then package them up for two big deliveries to the Yolo Food Bank (for Davis campus donations) and Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (for Sacramento campus donations).

HOLIDAY HELPING: Food for People, Food for Pets

Run to your kitchen cabinet, grab some food and put it in the campus mail by the end of this week! Or run in the 5K Running of the Turkeys to help raise money for the Yolo Food Bank! (You can walk the 5K route, if you prefer.)

And we haven’t forgotten about pets this holiday season. Students and other volunteers from the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital are once again seeking monetary donations for the Mercer Clinic Holiday Pet Baskets Program, providing food, treats and other supplies to pets belonging to homeless people.

HOLIDAY HELPING: A Food Drive and a Food Run

Mail Services’ annual Holiday Food Drive started today (Nov. 1), and another campus group is rounding up a team for the annual Running of the Turkeys fundraiser for the Yolo Food Bank.

First, the campus food drive that makes donating as easy as leaving canned goods and other foodstuffs in your unit’s outgoing mail. Mail Services has been collecting food like this every holiday season since 2005 on both the Davis and Sacramento campuses, bringing in a total of nearly 10 tons of food in 10 years.
