Construction Managers Come Full Circle at Aggie Square

For Joshua Chavez, working on Aggie Square was something of a homecoming, even though he’d only passed by the site of the Sacramento innovation district.

A 2021 graduate of �ٺ��Ƶ who majored in managerial economics, Chavez helped to manage some of the early, pivotal work on the Aggie Square site in 2023 — such as bringing power, water and sewer lines to the 11-acre site, which is a partnership between the university and Wexford Science & Technology LLC.

�ٺ��Ƶ Achieves Reaccreditation for 10 Years

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission cited �ٺ��Ƶ’ “shared purpose, professional pride, and inclusive belonging that fosters active engagement and shared governance across the university” as the regional accreditation agency renewed the university’s accreditation for 10 years.

Public Comments Invited on Police Accreditation

A team of assessors from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will visit campus March 16 to 19 to examine all aspects of the �ٺ��Ƶ Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operation and support services. The visit is part of the process to renew the department’s accreditation, a highly prized recognition of campus public safety professional excellence.

George Baxter has a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, but he was not made for life in the lab. Baxter’s role is expanding the university’s traditional roles of teaching and research to include catalyzing innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship.

“To me it has always been about the doing, the impact,” Baxter said. “I’ve enjoyed science my whole life and obviously there is the fantastic intellectual stimulation of discovering new things. But what I’ve found really interests me is taking that discovery, putting it into the world and seeing it make a difference in people’s lives.”
