As a community, �ٺ��Ƶ is big on student health and fitness — half of all students bike to campus at least once a week, and dozens of teams compete at the NCAA and sport club levels.

The campus is looking back on 50 years of the Whole Earth Festival this year. The student-run event celebrating sustainability, expression and community started in 1969 as a project for an art class, and has since morphed into a weekend-long festival that attracts tens of thousands of people each year with music, food, vendors and more.

Doors to Bigger, Brighter ARC Open March 27

After nearly two years of remodeling, the Activities and Recreation Center is almost ready to unveil its expansion project — adding space for strength training and reconfiguring the layout to make room for a plethora of new equipment, while bringing in more natural light — but first the ARC will close for two days so crews can take down temporary walls and move equipment.

Construction Projects Keep Crews Busy Over Summer

The colors have been chosen for the squat racks, windows are going in and soon a crane will lower a large container into the courtyard — a container that will not only be used for storage of outdoor fitness equipment, but is itself a piece of fitness equipment.

Now Brewing: New Peet's Coffee Opens in ARC

Crews are just beginning work to expand the Activities and Recreation Center, but one transformation on that part of campus is already complete: a new Peet’s.

The new coffee shop opened in the former Starbucks location at the ARC Wednesday (Aug. 2), giving visitors a new choice for a pick-me-up before a class, meeting or workout.

ARC to Gain Workout Space in Expansion Project

The Activities and Recreation Center is closed today through Thursday (July 25-27) in preparation for major expansion of exercise space that has grown crowded since the ARC’s opening in 2004. Equipment is being moved around and temporary walls are going up to allow for the construction that is expected to last into 2019.
